Every summer since 2000, the Klondike Institute of Arts & Culture (KIAC) has invited artists and collectives to partake in the Yukon Riverside Arts Festival; a weekend of interdisciplinary arts where community members and visitors are invited to interact with and explore creative work presented by lol and regional artists working in a wide range of mediums. The 2021 Festival will take place at a variety of venues and historil sites throughout Dawson City during the Discovery Days weekend on the 13th, 14th and 15th of August.

This August, the Riverside Arts Festival will take the lessons learned from last year’s experiment and expand on the concept of a curated virtual experience. Focusing on the freedom discovered from this new, fluid format, the challenge of presenting artwork in new ways becomes an exciting invitation. As well, KIAC hopes that we are able to engage audiences in socially distanced and safe mini-events throughout the weekend (COVID permitting). The goal of Yukon Riverside Arts Festival is to continue to provide a platform for the wonderful and diverse artists across the territory (and beyond), and to continue to create a space (virtual, physil and emotional) for artistic expression to thrive in our community.
